DuPage PADS

With over 26 years of service, DuPage PADS has grown to be the largest provider of shelter and permanent supportive housing in DuPage County. DuPage PADS has served those at the lowest income levels in our county with one goal in mind: to end homelessness. Building on the years of experience in serving those who are homeless, DuPage PADS has evolved in the belief system that housing plus supportive services and employment is the solution towards the mission of ending homelessness.

By offering the necessary multifaceted support services and career building assistance, case managers empower participants to rebound and rebuild their lives while holding them accountable for their own progress. In addition to providing Interim (Overnight) Housing 365 nights a year, DuPage PADS works with individuals to confront their barriers to homelessness. DuPage PADS case managers link clients to services including assistance in developing a plan to secure and maintain employment, linkages to mainstream benefits, support for meeting basic needs, health care, individual case management, access to legal assistance and more.

While we report that we have seen a 72% increase in the number of children we serve over the last three years, we remain optimistic that our solution to end homelessness is working by the following facts regarding our last fiscal year:

• 71% of our clients seeking employment found jobs,

• 80% of those over the age of 17 participated in groups, education and/or individual goal planning,

• 64 apartments were provided for individuals and families in Permanent Supportive Housing and 12 more will be added for a total of 76  apartments in fiscal year 2012.
